This kokeshi doll was crafted in the 1970s–1980s by artisan Hisashiro Niiyama, a maker from the traditional Yajirō region of Miyagi, Japan. Her round face and shy little expression have a charming warmth, the kind that makes you smile without even noticing. The bright red and purple patterns are full of the cozy energy of Japanese folk craft, adding a soft touch of color to any room.
Carved from a single piece of wood and finished entirely by hand, each kokeshi is truly one of a kind. There is a gentle, childlike simplicity in her form—something that feels both nostalgic and comforting. Around the world, kokeshi dolls are loved as small companions that bring a sense of calm to everyday spaces. This piece carries decades of history and the quiet kindness of handmade work, offering a little moment of peace wherever she is placed.
