This is a work by Umehara Hirotaka, a traditional craftsman and second-generation Gyokko master of Tokoname ware.
This tasteful teapot features a beautiful Tokoname ware base decorated with images of Mount Fuji, cherry blossoms, a sunset, and their reflections on the lake surface.
This is a view of Mount Fuji from the shores of Lake Yamanaka in Yamanashi Prefecture during cherry blossom season. In early April, Mount Fuji is still mostly covered in snow, creating a beautiful contrast with the spring-like scenery at the foot of the mountain and along the lake.
A well-shaped teapot stands upright on the handle, and of course this teapot does too.
The inside of this teapot is equipped with a ceramic tea strainer called "Ceramesh" which can be used to pour tea leaves directly into the teapot. These ceramic tea strainers are also carefully crafted one by one by skilled artisans.
This teapot, which is made using the skills of Tokoname artisans, is easy to hold and pours smoothly, and the tea you drink from it will surely taste exceptional as you think of the beautiful Japanese scenery of Mount Fuji with the snow melting in early spring.
