Shi-moa is a beautiful sake cup that combines the advanced stainless steel processing and polishing techniques of Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, with Yamanaka lacquerware, a traditional craft from Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Among the lacquerware (Shi-moa) products, this "Sandalwood" series is sprinkled with gold powder using the unique "lacquer flow" technique to create a pattern that resembles sparkling flowing water. The color fades over time, allowing you to enjoy watching it develop as you use it.
The stainless steel body has a hollow double structure, which makes it difficult for water droplets to form and has excellent cold retention. While taking advantage of the functionality of the stainless steel material, the exterior is finished with lacquer, which adds a moist texture and makes it soft to the touch.
Uchiki, the maker of this sake cup, is an amazing manufacturer that has inherited and spread the traditional techniques of Yamanaka lacquerware since its founding in 1888.
We also have a selection of black sake cups, so please enjoy your sake in these beautiful sake cups.

Precautions when using lacquer products
- Please be careful when handling lacquerware.
- When storing or using the tableware with other tableware, rubbing it against other tableware or scratching it with nails can cause the lacquer or urethane coating to peel off.
- Please wash gently by hand, dry with a soft cloth, and store out of direct sunlight. Please strictly follow these instructions to protect the painted surface for a long time.
- Do not soak the product in water as this may cause the paint to deteriorate or peel off.
- Never use the product in a microwave, oven, over an open flame, or in a dishwasher, as this may cause damage to the painted surface.
- As this is a lacquerware item, please take care when it comes into contact with other items, rubs against them, or drops. This can cause the paint to peel or lose its luster.
- The unevenness (grains) on the lacquered surface of the urushi nagashi (sandalwood series) occurs in areas where gold LG powder was sprinkled on after the nagashi lacquer was applied, or in areas where lacquer was applied on top of LG powder remaining on the surface. Please note that this is not dust or dirt.
