Shi-moa is a beautiful beer cup that combines the advanced stainless steel processing and polishing techniques of Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, with Yamanaka lacquerware, a traditional craft from Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture.

Among the lacquerware (Shi-moa) products, this "Sandalwood" series is sprinkled with gold powder using the unique "lacquer flow" technique to create a pattern that resembles sparkling flowing water. The color fades over time, allowing you to enjoy watching it develop as you use it.

The stainless steel body has a mirror finish on the inside upper part and spiral polished lines on the bottom, which creates a powerful, creamy foam the moment you pour beer.

The thin, single spout allows the taste and coldness of the drink to be felt directly. While taking advantage of the functionality of the stainless steel material, the lacquer finish on the outside adds a soft texture and makes the cup feel smooth on the mouth.

Uchiki, the maker of these beer cups, is an amazing manufacturer that has inherited and spread the traditional techniques of Yamanaka lacquerware since its founding in 1888.

We also have beer cups in a different color (black), so please enjoy your sake in these beautiful beer cups.

This product will be shipped in a paulownia wood box.

It also comes with 10 coasters made from Echizen washi paper, a traditional craft from Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture.

Precautions for Using Lacquerware

  • Please handle lacquerware with care, as the surface can be delicate.
  • When storing or using it together with other items, friction or accidental scratches may cause the lacquer coating to wear or peel.
  • Wash gently by hand, wipe dry with a soft cloth, and store in a place away from direct sunlight.
This will help preserve the lacquer surface for many years.
  • Do not soak the item in water. Prolonged exposure may cause the lacquer to deteriorate or peel.
  • Avoid using microwave ovens, ovens, direct heat, or dishwashers, as these may damage the lacquerware.
  • As this is a handcrafted lacquer item, please take care to avoid impacts, rubbing, or dropping it, as this may cause the lacquer to peel or the surface sheen to fade.
  • The unevenness (grains) on the lacquered surface of the urushi nagashi (sandalwood series) occurs in areas where gold LG powder was sprinkled on after the nagashi lacquer was applied, or in areas where lacquer was applied on top of LG powder remaining on the surface. Please note that this is not dust or dirt.
