Yoshidaya-style porcelain was a kiln opened by the Toyoda family (trade name Yoshidaya), wealthy merchants of the Daishoji domain, during the Bunsei era of the Edo period (1818-1829). Its soft painting style reflects the peaceful Bunka-Bunsei era. It is said to be the style that most closely resembles the Ko-Kutani style, and features flowers and birds, landscapes, small patterns, and floral designs using the three colors of blue, yellow, and purple.
The flower language of the standing hollyhock (Tachiaoi), which blooms upright, is "nobility" and "dignity." It begins to bloom from the bottom, and when the upper flowers bloom, it signals the end of the rainy season. It is a flower that heralds the arrival of bright summer.
