This is a flat plate with a cute mimosa flower pattern made from dyed washi paper.
This work is by ceramic artist Kato Yoko, and features floral patterns created using a technique called "washi dyeing," in which Japanese paper is used to apply patterns and color to bisque pottery.
"Washi-zome" is a traditional painting technique using washi paper, performed by skilled craftsmen. The washi paper is cut into the shape of a design, placed on top of the bisque, and then painted with paint. When the paint dries, the washi paper is removed and the painting is complete.
