This is a flat plate with a cute chrysanthemum floral pattern dyed with washi paper.
This work is by ceramic artist Kato Yoko, and features floral patterns created using a technique called "washi dyeing," which involves using Japanese paper to apply patterns and colors to unglazed items.
"Washi dyeing" is a traditional technique of painting using Japanese paper, performed by skilled craftsmen. The paper is cut into the shape of a design, placed on top of the bisque, and then painted with paint. Once the paint has dried, the Japanese paper is removed and the painting is complete.
